¹And it came to pass, when Solomon had finished building the house of the Lᴏʀᴅ and the king’s house, and all Solomon’s desire which he wanted to do, ²that the Lᴏʀᴅ appeared to Solomon the second time, as He had appeared to him at Gibeon. ³And the Lᴏʀᴅ said to him: “I have heard your prayer and your supplication that you have made before Me; I have consecrated this house which you have built to put My name there forever, and My eyes and My heart will be there perpetually. ⁴Now if you walk before Me as your father David walked, in integrity of heart and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded you, and if you keep My statutes and My judgments, ⁵then I will establish the throne of your kingdom over Israel forever, as I promised David your father, saying, ‘You shall not fail to have a man on the throne of Israel.’ ⁶But if you or your sons at all turn from following Me, and do not keep My commandments and My statutes which I have set before you, but go and serve other gods and worship them, ⁷then I will cut off Israel from the land which I have given them; and this house which I have consecrated for My name I will cast out of My sight. Israel will be a proverb and a byword among all peoples. ⁸And as for this house, which is exalted, everyone who passes by it will be astonished and will hiss, and say, ‘Why has the Lᴏʀᴅ done thus to this land and to this house?’ ⁹Then they will answer, ‘Because they forsook the Lᴏʀᴅ their God, who brought their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and have embraced other gods, and worshiped them and served them; therefore the Lᴏʀᴅ has brought all this calamity on them.’ ” ¹⁰Now it happened at the end of twenty years, when Solomon had built the two houses, the house of the Lᴏʀᴅ and the king’s house ¹¹(Hiram the king of Tyre had supplied Solomon with cedar and cypress and gold, as much as he desired), that King Solomon then gave Hiram twenty cities in the land of Galilee. ¹²Then Hiram went from Tyre to see the cities which Solomon had given him, but they did not please him. ¹³So he said, “What kind of cities are these which you have given me, my brother?” And he called them the land of Cabul, as they are to this day. ¹⁴Then Hiram sent the king one hundred and twenty talents of gold. ¹⁵And this is the reason for the labor force which King Solomon raised: to build the house of the Lᴏʀᴅ, his own house, the Millo, the wall of Jerusalem, Hazor, Megiddo, and Gezer. ¹⁶(Pharaoh king of Egypt had gone up and taken Gezer and burned it with fire, had killed the Canaanites who dwelt in the city, and had given it as a dowry to his daughter, Solomon’s wife.) ¹⁷And Solomon built Gezer, Lower Beth Horon, ¹⁸Baalath, and Tadmor in the wilderness, in the land of Judah, ¹⁹all the storage cities that Solomon had, cities for his chariots and cities for his cavalry, and whatever Solomon desired to build in Jerusalem, in Lebanon, and in all the land of his dominion. ²⁰All the people who were left of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites, who were not of the children of Israel— ²¹that is, their descendants who were left in the land after them, whom the children of Israel had not been able to destroy completely—from these Solomon raised forced labor, as it is to this day. ²²But of the children of Israel Solomon made no forced laborers, because they were men of war and his servants: his officers, his captains, commanders of his chariots, and his cavalry. ²³Others were chiefs of the officials who were over Solomon’s work: five hundred and fifty, who ruled over the people who did the work. ²⁴But Pharaoh’s daughter came up from the City of David to her house which Solomon had built for her. Then he built the Millo. ²⁵Now three times a year Solomon offered burnt offerings and peace offerings on the altar which he had built for the Lᴏʀᴅ, and he burned incense with them on the altar that was before the Lᴏʀᴅ. So he finished the temple. ²⁶King Solomon also built a fleet of ships at Ezion Geber, which is near Elath on the shore of the Red Sea, in the land of Edom. ²⁷Then Hiram sent his servants with the fleet, seamen who knew the sea, to work with the servants of Solomon. ²⁸And they went to Ophir, and acquired four hundred and twenty talents of gold from there, and brought it to King Solomon.

¹Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. ²“Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise: ³“that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.” ⁴And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord. ⁵Bondservants, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in sincerity of heart, as to Christ; ⁶not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, ⁷with goodwill doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men, ⁸knowing that whatever good anyone does, he will receive the same from the Lord, whether he is a slave or free. ⁹And you, masters, do the same things to them, giving up threatening, knowing that your own Master also is in heaven, and there is no partiality with Him. ¹⁰Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. ¹¹Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. ¹²For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. ¹³Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. ¹⁴Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, ¹⁵and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; ¹⁶above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. ¹⁷And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; ¹⁸praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints— ¹⁹and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, ²⁰for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. ²¹But that you also may know my affairs and how I am doing, Tychicus, a beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, will make all things known to you; ²²whom I have sent to you for this very purpose, that you may know our affairs, and that he may comfort your hearts. ²³Peace to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. ²⁴Grace be with all those who love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen.

¹“And you, son of man, prophesy against Gog, and say, ‘Thus says the Lᴏʀᴅ God: “Behold, I am against you, O Gog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal; ²and I will turn you around and lead you on, bringing you up from the far north, and bring you against the mountains of Israel. ³Then I will knock the bow out of your left hand, and cause the arrows to fall out of your right hand. ⁴You shall fall upon the mountains of Israel, you and all your troops and the peoples who are with you; I will give you to birds of prey of every sort and to the beasts of the field to be devoured. ⁵You shall fall on the open field; for I have spoken,” says the Lᴏʀᴅ God. ⁶And I will send fire on Magog and on those who live in security in the coastlands. Then they shall know that I am the Lᴏʀᴅ. ⁷So I will make My holy name known in the midst of My people Israel, and I will not let them profane My holy name anymore. Then the nations shall know that I am the Lᴏʀᴅ, the Holy One in Israel. ⁸Surely it is coming, and it shall be done,” says the Lᴏʀᴅ God. “This is the day of which I have spoken. ⁹“Then those who dwell in the cities of Israel will go out and set on fire and burn the weapons, both the shields and bucklers, the bows and arrows, the javelins and spears; and they will make fires with them for seven years. ¹⁰They will not take wood from the field nor cut down any from the forests, because they will make fires with the weapons; and they will plunder those who plundered them, and pillage those who pillaged them,” says the Lᴏʀᴅ God. ¹¹“It will come to pass in that day that I will give Gog a burial place there in Israel, the valley of those who pass by east of the sea; and it will obstruct travelers, because there they will bury Gog and all his multitude. Therefore they will call it the Valley of Hamon Gog. ¹²For seven months the house of Israel will be burying them, in order to cleanse the land. ¹³Indeed all the people of the land will be burying, and they will gain renown for it on the day that I am glorified,” says the Lᴏʀᴅ God. ¹⁴They will set apart men regularly employed, with the help of a search party, to pass through the land and bury those bodies remaining on the ground, in order to cleanse it. At the end of seven months they will make a search. ¹⁵The search party will pass through the land; and when anyone sees a man’s bone, he shall set up a marker by it, till the buriers have buried it in the Valley of Hamon Gog. ¹⁶The name of the city will also be Hamonah. Thus they shall cleanse the land.” ‘ ¹⁷“And as for you, son of man, thus says the Lᴏʀᴅ God, ‘Speak to every sort of bird and to every beast of the field: “Assemble yourselves and come; Gather together from all sides to My sacrificial meal Which I am sacrificing for you, A great sacrificial meal on the mountains of Israel, That you may eat flesh and drink blood. ¹⁸You shall eat the flesh of the mighty, Drink the blood of the princes of the earth, Of rams and lambs, Of goats and bulls, All of them fatlings of Bashan. ¹⁹You shall eat fat till you are full, And drink blood till you are drunk, At My sacrificial meal Which I am sacrificing for you. ²⁰You shall be filled at My table With horses and riders, With mighty men And with all the men of war,” says the Lᴏʀᴅ God. ²¹“I will set My glory among the nations; all the nations shall see My judgment which I have executed, and My hand which I have laid on them. ²²So the house of Israel shall know that I am the Lᴏʀᴅ their God from that day forward. ²³The Gentiles shall know that the house of Israel went into captivity for their iniquity; because they were unfaithful to Me, therefore I hid My face from them. I gave them into the hand of their enemies, and they all fell by the sword. ²⁴According to their uncleanness and according to their transgressions I have dealt with them, and hidden My face from them.” ‘ ²⁵“Therefore thus says the Lᴏʀᴅ God: ‘Now I will bring back the captives of Jacob, and have mercy on the whole house of Israel; and I will be jealous for My holy name— ²⁶after they have borne their shame, and all their unfaithfulness in which they were unfaithful to Me, when they dwelt safely in their own land and no one made them afraid. ²⁷When I have brought them back from the peoples and gathered them out of their enemies’ lands, and I am hallowed in them in the sight of many nations, ²⁸then they shall know that I am the Lᴏʀᴅ their God, who sent them into captivity among the nations, but also brought them back to their land, and left none of them captive any longer. ²⁹And I will not hide My face from them anymore; for I shall have poured out My Spirit on the house of Israel,’ says the Lᴏʀᴅ God.”

¹A Prayer of Moses the man of God. Lᴏʀᴅ, You have been our dwelling place in all generations. ²Before the mountains were brought forth, Or ever You had formed the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God. ³You turn man to destruction, And say, “Return, O children of men.” ⁴For a thousand years in Your sight Are like yesterday when it is past, And like a watch in the night. ⁵You carry them away like a flood; They are like a sleep. In the morning they are like grass which grows up: ⁶In the morning it flourishes and grows up; In the evening it is cut down and withers. ⁷For we have been consumed by Your anger, And by Your wrath we are terrified. ⁸You have set our iniquities before You, Our secret sins in the light of Your countenance. ⁹For all our days have passed away in Your wrath; We finish our years like a sigh. ¹⁰The days of our lives are seventy years; And if by reason of strength they are eighty years, Yet their boast is only labor and sorrow; For it is soon cut off, and we fly away. ¹¹Who knows the power of Your anger? For as the fear of You, so is Your wrath. ¹²So teach us to number our days, That we may gain a heart of wisdom. ¹³Return, O Lᴏʀᴅ! How long? And have compassion on Your servants. ¹⁴Oh, satisfy us early with Your mercy, That we may rejoice and be glad all our days! ¹⁵Make us glad according to the days in which You have afflicted us, The years in which we have seen evil. ¹⁶Let Your work appear to Your servants, And Your glory to their children. ¹⁷And let the beauty of the Lᴏʀᴅ our God be upon us, And establish the work of our hands for us; Yes, establish the work of our hands.
