¹“At the end of every seven years you shall grant a release of debts. ²And this is the form of the release: Every creditor who has lent anything to his neighbor shall release it; he shall not require it of his neighbor or his brother, because it is called the Lᴏʀᴅ’s release. ³Of a foreigner you may require it; but you shall give up your claim to what is owed by your brother, ⁴except when there may be no poor among you; for the Lᴏʀᴅ will greatly bless you in the land which the Lᴏʀᴅ your God is giving you to possess as an inheritance— ⁵only if you carefully obey the voice of the Lᴏʀᴅ your God, to observe with care all these commandments which I command you today. ⁶For the Lᴏʀᴅ your God will bless you just as He promised you; you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow; you shall reign over many nations, but they shall not reign over you. ⁷“If there is among you a poor man of your brethren, within any of the gates in your land which the Lᴏʀᴅ your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart nor shut your hand from your poor brother, ⁸but you shall open your hand wide to him and willingly lend him sufficient for his need, whatever he needs. ⁹Beware lest there be a wicked thought in your heart, saying, ‘The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand,’ and your eye be evil against your poor brother and you give him nothing, and he cry out to the Lᴏʀᴅ against you, and it become sin among you. ¹⁰You shall surely give to him, and your heart should not be grieved when you give to him, because for this thing the Lᴏʀᴅ your God will bless you in all your works and in all to which you put your hand. ¹¹For the poor will never cease from the land; therefore I command you, saying, ‘You shall open your hand wide to your brother, to your poor and your needy, in your land.’ ¹²“If your brother, a Hebrew man, or a Hebrew woman, is sold to you and serves you six years, then in the seventh year you shall let him go free from you. ¹³And when you send him away free from you, you shall not let him go away empty-handed; ¹⁴you shall supply him liberally from your flock, from your threshing floor, and from your winepress. From what the Lᴏʀᴅ has blessed you with, you shall give to him. ¹⁵You shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the Lᴏʀᴅ your God redeemed you; therefore I command you this thing today. ¹⁶And if it happens that he says to you, ‘I will not go away from you,’ because he loves you and your house, since he prospers with you, ¹⁷then you shall take an awl and thrust it through his ear to the door, and he shall be your servant forever. Also to your female servant you shall do likewise. ¹⁸It shall not seem hard to you when you send him away free from you; for he has been worth a double hired servant in serving you six years. Then the Lᴏʀᴅ your God will bless you in all that you do. ¹⁹All the firstborn males that come from your herd and your flock you shall sanctify to the Lᴏʀᴅ your God; you shall do no work with the firstborn of your herd, nor shear the firstborn of your flock. ²⁰You and your household shall eat it before the Lᴏʀᴅ your God year by year in the place which the Lᴏʀᴅ chooses. ²¹But if there is a defect in it, if it is lame or blind or has any serious defect, you shall not sacrifice it to the Lᴏʀᴅ your God. ²²You may eat it within your gates; the unclean and the clean person alike may eat it, as if it were a gazelle or a deer. ²³Only you shall not eat its blood; you shall pour it on the ground like water.

¹A Prayer of the afflicted, when he is overwhelmed and pours out his complaint before the Lᴏʀᴅ. Hear my prayer, O Lᴏʀᴅ, And let my cry come to You. ²Do not hide Your face from me in the day of my trouble; Incline Your ear to me; In the day that I call, answer me speedily. ³For my days are consumed like smoke, And my bones are burned like a hearth. ⁴My heart is stricken and withered like grass, So that I forget to eat my bread. ⁵Because of the sound of my groaning My bones cling to my skin. ⁶I am like a pelican of the wilderness; I am like an owl of the desert. ⁷I lie awake, And am like a sparrow alone on the housetop. ⁸My enemies reproach me all day long, Those who deride me swear an oath against me. ⁹For I have eaten ashes like bread, And mingled my drink with weeping, ¹⁰Because of Your indignation and Your wrath; For You have lifted me up and cast me away. ¹¹My days are like a shadow that lengthens, And I wither away like grass. ¹²But You, O Lᴏʀᴅ, shall endure forever, And the remembrance of Your name to all generations. ¹³You will arise and have mercy on Zion; For the time to favor her, Yes, the set time, has come. ¹⁴For Your servants take pleasure in her stones, And show favor to her dust. ¹⁵So the nations shall fear the name of the Lᴏʀᴅ, And all the kings of the earth Your glory. ¹⁶For the Lᴏʀᴅ shall build up Zion; He shall appear in His glory. ¹⁷He shall regard the prayer of the destitute, And shall not despise their prayer. ¹⁸This will be written for the generation to come, That a people yet to be created may praise the Lᴏʀᴅ. ¹⁹For He looked down from the height of His sanctuary; From heaven the Lᴏʀᴅ viewed the earth, ²⁰To hear the groaning of the prisoner, To release those appointed to death, ²¹To declare the name of the Lᴏʀᴅ in Zion, And His praise in Jerusalem, ²²When the peoples are gathered together, And the kingdoms, to serve the Lᴏʀᴅ. ²³He weakened my strength in the way; He shortened my days. ²⁴I said, “O my God, Do not take me away in the midst of my days; Your years are throughout all generations. ²⁵Of old You laid the foundation of the earth, And the heavens are the work of Your hands. ²⁶They will perish, but You will endure; Yes, they will all grow old like a garment; Like a cloak You will change them, And they will be changed. ²⁷But You are the same, And Your years will have no end. ²⁸The children of Your servants will continue, And their descendants will be established before You.”

¹“Behold! My Servant whom I uphold, My Elect One in whom My soul delights! I have put My Spirit upon Him; He will bring forth justice to the Gentiles. ²He will not cry out, nor raise His voice, Nor cause His voice to be heard in the street. ³A bruised reed He will not break, And smoking flax He will not quench; He will bring forth justice for truth. ⁴He will not fail nor be discouraged, Till He has established justice in the earth; And the coastlands shall wait for His law.” ⁵Thus says God the Lᴏʀᴅ, Who created the heavens and stretched them out, Who spread forth the earth and that which comes from it, Who gives breath to the people on it, And spirit to those who walk on it: ⁶“I, the Lᴏʀᴅ, have called You in righteousness, And will hold Your hand; I will keep You and give You as a covenant to the people, As a light to the Gentiles, ⁷To open blind eyes, To bring out prisoners from the prison, Those who sit in darkness from the prison house. ⁸I am the Lᴏʀᴅ, that is My name; And My glory I will not give to another, Nor My praise to carved images. ⁹Behold, the former things have come to pass, And new things I declare; Before they spring forth I tell you of them.” ¹⁰Sing to the Lᴏʀᴅ a new song, And His praise from the ends of the earth, You who go down to the sea, and all that is in it, You coastlands and you inhabitants of them! ¹¹Let the wilderness and its cities lift up their voice, The villages that Kedar inhabits. Let the inhabitants of Sela sing, Let them shout from the top of the mountains. ¹²Let them give glory to the Lᴏʀᴅ, And declare His praise in the coastlands. ¹³The Lᴏʀᴅ shall go forth like a mighty man; He shall stir up His zeal like a man of war. He shall cry out, yes, shout aloud; He shall prevail against His enemies. ¹⁴“I have held My peace a long time, I have been still and restrained Myself. Now I will cry like a woman in labor, I will pant and gasp at once. ¹⁵I will lay waste the mountains and hills, And dry up all their vegetation; I will make the rivers coastlands, And I will dry up the pools. ¹⁶I will bring the blind by a way they did not know; I will lead them in paths they have not known. I will make darkness light before them, And crooked places straight. These things I will do for them, And not forsake them. ¹⁷They shall be turned back, They shall be greatly ashamed, Who trust in carved images, Who say to the molded images, ‘You are our gods.’ ¹⁸“Hear, you deaf; And look, you blind, that you may see. ¹⁹Who is blind but My servant, Or deaf as My messenger whom I send? Who is blind as he who is perfect, And blind as the Lᴏʀᴅ’s servant? ²⁰Seeing many things, but you do not observe; Opening the ears, but he does not hear.” ²¹The Lᴏʀᴅ is well pleased for His righteousness’ sake; He will exalt the law and make it honorable. ²²But this is a people robbed and plundered; All of them are snared in holes, And they are hidden in prison houses; They are for prey, and no one delivers; For plunder, and no one says, “Restore!” ²³Who among you will give ear to this? Who will listen and hear for the time to come? ²⁴Who gave Jacob for plunder, and Israel to the robbers? Was it not the Lᴏʀᴅ, He against whom we have sinned? For they would not walk in His ways, Nor were they obedient to His law. ²⁵Therefore He has poured on him the fury of His anger And the strength of battle; It has set him on fire all around, Yet he did not know; And it burned him, Yet he did not take it to heart.

¹Now a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a garland of twelve stars. ²Then being with child, she cried out in labor and in pain to give birth. ³And another sign appeared in heaven: behold, a great, fiery red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and seven diadems on his heads. ⁴His tail drew a third of the stars of heaven and threw them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was ready to give birth, to devour her Child as soon as it was born. ⁵She bore a male Child who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron. And her Child was caught up to God and His throne. ⁶Then the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, that they should feed her there one thousand two hundred and sixty days. ⁷And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, ⁸but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer. ⁹So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. ¹⁰Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. ¹¹And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. ¹²Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time.” ¹³Now when the dragon saw that he had been cast to the earth, he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male Child. ¹⁴But the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent. ¹⁵So the serpent spewed water out of his mouth like a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away by the flood. ¹⁶But the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed up the flood which the dragon had spewed out of his mouth. ¹⁷And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. ¹⁸[No text]
