¹And the Lᴏʀᴅ spoke to Moses, saying, ²“Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘The feasts of the Lᴏʀᴅ, which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations, these are My feasts. ³‘Six days shall work be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, a holy convocation. You shall do no work on it; it is the Sabbath of the Lᴏʀᴅ in all your dwellings. ⁴‘These are the feasts of the Lᴏʀᴅ, holy convocations which you shall proclaim at their appointed times ⁵On the fourteenth day of the first month at twilight is the Lᴏʀᴅ’s Passover. ⁶And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the Feast of Unleavened Bread to the Lᴏʀᴅ; seven days you must eat unleavened bread. ⁷On the first day you shall have a holy convocation; you shall do no customary work on it. ⁸But you shall offer an offering made by fire to the Lᴏʀᴅ for seven days. The seventh day shall be a holy convocation; you shall do no customary work on it.’ ” ⁹And the Lᴏʀᴅ spoke to Moses, saying, ¹⁰“Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘When you come into the land which I give to you, and reap its harvest, then you shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest to the priest. ¹¹He shall wave the sheaf before the Lᴏʀᴅ, to be accepted on your behalf; on the day after the Sabbath the priest shall wave it. ¹²And you shall offer on that day, when you wave the sheaf, a male lamb of the first year, without blemish, as a burnt offering to the Lᴏʀᴅ. ¹³Its grain offering shall be two-tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with oil, an offering made by fire to the Lᴏʀᴅ, for a sweet aroma; and its drink offering shall be of wine, one-fourth of a hin. ¹⁴You shall eat neither bread nor parched grain nor fresh grain until the same day that you have brought an offering to your God; it shall be a statute forever throughout your generations in all your dwellings ¹⁵‘And you shall count for yourselves from the day after the Sabbath, from the day that you brought the sheaf of the wave offering: seven Sabbaths shall be completed. ¹⁶Count fifty days to the day after the seventh Sabbath; then you shall offer a new grain offering to the Lᴏʀᴅ. ¹⁷You shall bring from your dwellings two wave loaves of two-tenths of an ephah. They shall be of fine flour; they shall be baked with leaven. They are the firstfruits to the Lᴏʀᴅ. ¹⁸And you shall offer with the bread seven lambs of the first year, without blemish, one young bull, and two rams. They shall be as a burnt offering to the Lᴏʀᴅ, with their grain offering and their drink offerings, an offering made by fire for a sweet aroma to the Lᴏʀᴅ. ¹⁹Then you shall sacrifice one kid of the goats as a sin offering, and two male lambs of the first year as a sacrifice of a peace offering ²⁰The priest shall wave them with the bread of the firstfruits as a wave offering before the Lᴏʀᴅ, with the two lambs. They shall be holy to the Lᴏʀᴅ for the priest. ²¹And you shall proclaim on the same day that it is a holy convocation to you. You shall do no customary work on it. It shall be a statute forever in all your dwellings throughout your generations ²²‘When you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not wholly reap the corners of your field when you reap, nor shall you gather any gleaning from your harvest. You shall leave them for the poor and for the stranger: I am the Lᴏʀᴅ your God.’ ” ²³Then the Lᴏʀᴅ spoke to Moses, saying, ²⁴“Speak to the children of Israel, saying: ‘In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall have a sabbath-rest, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation. ²⁵You shall do no customary work on it; and you shall offer an offering made by fire to the Lᴏʀᴅ.’ ” ²⁶And the Lᴏʀᴅ spoke to Moses, saying: ²⁷“Also the tenth day of this seventh month shall be the Day of Atonement. It shall be a holy convocation for you; you shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire to the Lᴏʀᴅ. ²⁸And you shall do no work on that same day, for it is the Day of Atonement, to make atonement for you before the Lᴏʀᴅ your God. ²⁹For any person who is not afflicted in soul on that same day shall be cut off from his people. ³⁰And any person who does any work on that same day, that person I will destroy from among his people. ³¹You shall do no manner of work; it shall be a statute forever throughout your generations in all your dwellings. ³²It shall be to you a sabbath of solemn rest, and you shall afflict your souls; on the ninth day of the month at evening, from evening to evening, you shall celebrate your sabbath.” ³³Then the Lᴏʀᴅ spoke to Moses, saying, ³⁴“Speak to the children of Israel, saying: ‘The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the Feast of Tabernacles for seven days to the Lᴏʀᴅ. ³⁵On the first day there shall be a holy convocation. You shall do no customary work on it. ³⁶For seven days you shall offer an offering made by fire to the Lᴏʀᴅ. On the eighth day you shall have a holy convocation, and you shall offer an offering made by fire to the Lᴏʀᴅ. It is a sacred assembly, and you shall do no customary work on it ³⁷These are the feasts of the Lᴏʀᴅ which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations, to offer an offering made by fire to the Lᴏʀᴅ, a burnt offering and a grain offering, a sacrifice and drink offerings, everything on its day— ³⁸besides the Sabbaths of the Lᴏʀᴅ, besides your gifts, besides all your vows, and besides all your freewill offerings which you give to the Lᴏʀᴅ ³⁹‘Also on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you have gathered in the fruit of the land, you shall keep the feast of the Lᴏʀᴅ for seven days; on the first day there shall be a sabbath-rest, and on the eighth day a sabbath-rest. ⁴⁰And you shall take for yourselves on the first day the fruit of beautiful trees, branches of palm trees, the boughs of leafy trees, and willows of the brook; and you shall rejoice before the Lᴏʀᴅ your God for seven days. ⁴¹You shall keep it as a feast to the Lᴏʀᴅ for seven days in the year. It shall be a statute forever in your generations. You shall celebrate it in the seventh month. ⁴²You shall dwell in booths for seven days. All who are native Israelites shall dwell in booths, ⁴³that your generations may know that I made the children of Israel dwell in booths when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am the Lᴏʀᴅ your God.’ ” ⁴⁴So Moses declared to the children of Israel the feasts of the Lᴏʀᴅ.

¹A Psalm. A Song at the dedication of the house of David. I will extol You, O Lᴏʀᴅ, for You have lifted me up, And have not let my foes rejoice over me. ²O Lᴏʀᴅ my God, I cried out to You, And You healed me. ³O Lᴏʀᴅ, You brought my soul up from the grave; You have kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit. ⁴Sing praise to the Lᴏʀᴅ, You saints of His, And give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name. ⁵For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning. ⁶Now in my prosperity I said, “I shall never be moved.” ⁷Lord, by Your favor You have made my mountain stand strong; You hid Your face, and I was troubled. ⁸I cried out to You, O Lᴏʀᴅ; And to the Lᴏʀᴅ I made supplication: ⁹“What profit is there in my blood, When I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise You? Will it declare Your truth? ¹⁰Hear, O Lᴏʀᴅ, and have mercy on me; Lord, be my helper!” ¹¹You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, ¹²To the end that my glory may sing praise to You and not be silent. O Lᴏʀᴅ my God, I will give thanks to You forever.

¹There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, and it is common among men: ²A man to whom God has given riches and wealth and honor, so that he lacks nothing for himself of all he desires; yet God does not give him power to eat of it, but a foreigner consumes it. This is vanity, and it is an evil affliction. ³If a man begets a hundred children and lives many years, so that the days of his years are many, but his soul is not satisfied with goodness, or indeed he has no burial, I say that a stillborn child is better than he— ⁴for it comes in vanity and departs in darkness, and its name is covered with darkness. ⁵Though it has not seen the sun or known anything, this has more rest than that man, ⁶even if he lives a thousand years twice—but has not seen goodness. Do not all go to one place? ⁷All the labor of man is for his mouth, And yet the soul is not satisfied. ⁸For what more has the wise man than the fool? What does the poor man have, Who knows how to walk before the living? ⁹Better is the sight of the eyes than the wandering of desire. This also is vanity and grasping for the wind. ¹⁰Whatever one is, he has been named already, For it is known that he is man; And he cannot contend with Him who is mightier than he. ¹¹Since there are many things that increase vanity, How is man the better? ¹²For who knows what is good for man in life, all the days of his vain life which he passes like a shadow? Who can tell a man what will happen after him under the sun?

¹You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. ²And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. ³You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. ⁴No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier. ⁵And also if anyone competes in athletics, he is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules. ⁶The hard-working farmer must be first to partake of the crops. ⁷Consider what I say, and may the Lord give you understanding in all things. ⁸Remember that Jesus Christ, of the seed of David, was raised from the dead according to my gospel, ⁹for which I suffer trouble as an evildoer, even to the point of chains; but the word of God is not chained. ¹⁰Therefore I endure all things for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. ¹¹This is a faithful saying: For if we died with Him, We shall also live with Him. ¹²If we endure, We shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us. ¹³If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself. ¹⁴Remind them of these things, charging them before the Lord not to strive about words to no profit, to the ruin of the hearers. ¹⁵Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. ¹⁶But shun profane and idle babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness. ¹⁷And their message will spread like cancer. Hymenaeus and Philetus are of this sort, ¹⁸who have strayed concerning the truth, saying that the resurrection is already past; and they overthrow the faith of some. ¹⁹Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.” ²⁰But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. ²¹Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work. ²²Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. ²³But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife. ²⁴And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, ²⁵in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, ²⁶and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will.
