1“When a man takes a wife and marries her, and it happens that she finds no favor in his eyes because he has found some uncleanness in her, and he writes her a certificate of divorce, puts it in her hand, and sends her out of his house, 2when she has departed from his house, and goes and becomes another man’s wife, 3if the latter husband detests her and writes her a certificate of divorce, puts it in her hand, and sends her out of his house, or if the latter husband dies who took her as his wife, 4then her former husband who divorced her must not take her back to be his wife after she has been defiled; for that is an abomination before the Lᴏʀᴅ, and you shall not bring sin on the land which the Lᴏʀᴅ your God is giving you as an inheritance. 5“When a man has taken a new wife, he shall not go out to war or be charged with any business; he shall be free at home one year, and bring happiness to his wife whom he has taken. 6“No man shall take the lower or the upper millstone in pledge, for he takes one’s living in pledge. 7“If a man is found kidnapping any of his brethren of the children of Israel, and mistreats him or sells him, then that kidnapper shall die; and you shall put away the evil from among you. 8“Take heed in an outbreak of leprosy, that you carefully observe and do according to all that the priests, the Levites, shall teach you; just as I commanded them, so you shall be careful to do. 9Remember what the Lᴏʀᴅ your God did to Miriam on the way when you came out of Egypt. 10“When you lend your brother anything, you shall not go into his house to get his pledge. 11You shall stand outside, and the man to whom you lend shall bring the pledge out to you. 12And if the man is poor, you shall not keep his pledge overnight. 13You shall in any case return the pledge to him again when the sun goes down, that he may sleep in his own garment and bless you; and it shall be righteousness to you before the Lᴏʀᴅ your God. 14“You shall not oppress a hired servant who is poor and needy, whether one of your brethren or one of the aliens who is in your land within your gates. 15Each day you shall give him his wages, and not let the sun go down on it, for he is poor and has set his heart on it; lest he cry out against you to the Lᴏʀᴅ, and it be sin to you. 16Fathers shall not be put to death for their children, nor shall the children be put to death for their fathers; a person shall be put to death for his own sin. 17“You shall not pervert justice due the stranger or the fatherless, nor take a widow’s garment as a pledge. 18But you shall remember that you were a slave in Egypt, and the Lᴏʀᴅ your God redeemed you from there; therefore I command you to do this thing. 19“When you reap your harvest in your field, and forget a sheaf in the field, you shall not go back to get it; it shall be for the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, that the Lᴏʀᴅ your God may bless you in all the work of your hands. 20When you beat your olive trees, you shall not go over the boughs again; it shall be for the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow. 21When you gather the grapes of your vineyard, you shall not glean it afterward; it shall be for the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow. 22And you shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt; therefore I command you to do this thing.
1When Israel went out of Egypt, The house of Jacob from a people of strange language, 2Judah became His sanctuary, And Israel His dominion. 3The sea saw it and fled; Jordan turned back. 4The mountains skipped like rams, The little hills like lambs. 5What ails you, O sea, that you fled? O Jordan, that you turned back? 6O mountains, that you skipped like rams? O little hills, like lambs? 7Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lᴏʀᴅ, At the presence of the God of Jacob, 8Who turned the rock into a pool of water, The flint into a fountain of waters.
1Not unto us, O Lᴏʀᴅ, not unto us, But to Your name give glory, Because of Your mercy, Because of Your truth. 2Why should the Gentiles say, “So where is their God?” 3But our God is in heaven; He does whatever He pleases. 4Their idols are silver and gold, The work of men’s hands. 5They have mouths, but they do not speak; Eyes they have, but they do not see; 6They have ears, but they do not hear; Noses they have, but they do not smell; 7They have hands, but they do not handle; Feet they have, but they do not walk; Nor do they mutter through their throat. 8Those who make them are like them; So is everyone who trusts in them. 9O Israel, trust in the Lᴏʀᴅ; He is their help and their shield. 10O house of Aaron, trust in the Lᴏʀᴅ; He is their help and their shield. 11You who fear the Lᴏʀᴅ, trust in the Lᴏʀᴅ; He is their help and their shield. 12The Lᴏʀᴅ has been mindful of us; He will bless us; He will bless the house of Israel; He will bless the house of Aaron. 13He will bless those who fear the Lᴏʀᴅ, Both small and great. 14May the Lᴏʀᴅ give you increase more and more, You and your children. 15May you be blessed by the Lᴏʀᴅ, Who made heaven and earth. 16The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lᴏʀᴅ’s; But the earth He has given to the children of men. 17The dead do not praise the Lᴏʀᴅ, Nor any who go down into silence. 18But we will bless the Lᴏʀᴅ From this time forth and forevermore. Praise the Lᴏʀᴅ!
1“Listen to Me, you who follow after righteousness, You who seek the Lᴏʀᴅ: Look to the rock from which you were hewn, And to the hole of the pit from which you were dug. 2Look to Abraham your father, And to Sarah who bore you; For I called him alone, And blessed him and increased him.” 3For the Lᴏʀᴅ will comfort Zion, He will comfort all her waste places; He will make her wilderness like Eden, And her desert like the garden of the Lᴏʀᴅ; Joy and gladness will be found in it, Thanksgiving and the voice of melody. 4“Listen to Me, My people; And give ear to Me, O My nation: For law will proceed from Me, And I will make My justice rest As a light of the peoples. 5My righteousness is near, My salvation has gone forth, And My arms will judge the peoples; The coastlands will wait upon Me, And on My arm they will trust. 6Lift up your eyes to the heavens, And look on the earth beneath. For the heavens will vanish away like smoke, The earth will grow old like a garment, And those who dwell in it will die in like manner; But My salvation will be forever, And My righteousness will not be abolished. 7“Listen to Me, you who know righteousness, You people in whose heart is My law: Do not fear the reproach of men, Nor be afraid of their insults. 8For the moth will eat them up like a garment, And the worm will eat them like wool; But My righteousness will be forever, And My salvation from generation to generation.” 9Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the Lᴏʀᴅ! Awake as in the ancient days, In the generations of old. Are You not the arm that cut Rahab apart, And wounded the serpent? 10Are You not the One who dried up the sea, The waters of the great deep; That made the depths of the sea a road For the redeemed to cross over? 11So the ransomed of the Lᴏʀᴅ shall return, And come to Zion with singing, With everlasting joy on their heads. They shall obtain joy and gladness; Sorrow and sighing shall flee away. 12“I, even I, am He who comforts you. Who are you that you should be afraid Of a man who will die, And of the son of a man who will be made like grass? 13And you forget the Lᴏʀᴅ your Maker, Who stretched out the heavens And laid the foundations of the earth; You have feared continually every day Because of the fury of the oppressor, When he has prepared to destroy. And where is the fury of the oppressor? 14The captive exile hastens, that he may be loosed, That he should not die in the pit, And that his bread should not fail. 15But I am the Lᴏʀᴅ your God, Who divided the sea whose waves roared— The Lᴏʀᴅ of hosts is His name. 16And I have put My words in your mouth; I have covered you with the shadow of My hand, That I may plant the heavens, Lay the foundations of the earth, And say to Zion, ‘You are My people.’ ” 17Awake, awake! Stand up, O Jerusalem, You who have drunk at the hand of the Lᴏʀᴅ The cup of His fury; You have drunk the dregs of the cup of trembling, And drained it out. 18There is no one to guide her Among all the sons she has brought forth; Nor is there any who takes her by the hand Among all the sons she has brought up. 19These two things have come to you; Who will be sorry for you?— Desolation and destruction, famine and sword— By whom will I comfort you? 20Your sons have fainted, They lie at the head of all the streets, Like an antelope in a net; They are full of the fury of the Lᴏʀᴅ, The rebuke of your God. 21Therefore please hear this, you afflicted, And drunk but not with wine. 22Thus says your Lord, The Lᴏʀᴅ and your God, Who pleads the cause of His people: “See, I have taken out of your hand The cup of trembling, The dregs of the cup of My fury; You shall no longer drink it. 23But I will put it into the hand of those who afflict you, Who have said to you, ‘Lie down, that we may walk over you.’ And you have laid your body like the ground, And as the street, for those who walk over.”
1Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. 2Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. 4And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” 5Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.” 6And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. 7He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. 8But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.” 9Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls filled with the seven last plagues came to me and talked with me, saying, “Come, I will show you the bride, the Lamb’s wife.” 10And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, 11having the glory of God. Her light was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal. 12Also she had a great and high wall with twelve gates, and twelve angels at the gates, and names written on them, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel: 13three gates on the east, three gates on the north, three gates on the south, and three gates on the west. 14Now the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. 15And he who talked with me had a gold reed to measure the city, its gates, and its wall. 16The city is laid out as a square; its length is as great as its breadth. And he measured the city with the reed: twelve thousand furlongs. Its length, breadth, and height are equal. 17Then he measured its wall: one hundred and forty-four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of an angel. 18The construction of its wall was of jasper; and the city was pure gold, like clear glass. 19The foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with all kinds of precious stones: the first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald, 20the fifth sardonyx, the sixth sardius, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst. 21The twelve gates were twelve pearls: each individual gate was of one pearl. And the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass. 22But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. 23The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light. 24And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it. 25Its gates shall not be shut at all by day (there shall be no night there). 26And they shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it. 27But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.
