¹Then the Lᴏʀᴅ spoke to Moses, saying, ²“Again, you shall say to the children of Israel: ‘Whoever of the children of Israel, or of the strangers who dwell in Israel, who gives any of his descendants to Molech, he shall surely be put to death. The people of the land shall stone him with stones. ³I will set My face against that man, and will cut him off from his people, because he has given some of his descendants to Molech, to defile My sanctuary and profane My holy name. ⁴And if the people of the land should in any way hide their eyes from the man, when he gives some of his descendants to Molech, and they do not kill him, ⁵then I will set My face against that man and against his family; and I will cut him off from his people, and all who prostitute themselves with him to commit harlotry with Molech. ⁶‘And the person who turns to mediums and familiar spirits, to prostitute himself with them, I will set My face against that person and cut him off from his people. ⁷Consecrate yourselves therefore, and be holy, for I am the Lᴏʀᴅ your God. ⁸‘And you shall keep My statutes, and perform them: I am the Lᴏʀᴅ who sanctifies you. ⁹For everyone who curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death. He has cursed his father or his mother. His blood shall be upon him. ¹⁰The man who commits adultery with another man’s wife, he who commits adultery with his neighbor’s wife, the adulterer and the adulteress, shall surely be put to death. ¹¹The man who lies with his father’s wife has uncovered his father’s nakedness; both of them shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them. ¹²If a man lies with his daughter-in-law, both of them shall surely be put to death. They have committed perversion. Their blood shall be upon them. ¹³If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them. ¹⁴If a man marries a woman and her mother, it is wickedness. They shall be burned with fire, both he and they, that there may be no wickedness among you. ¹⁵If a man mates with an animal, he shall surely be put to death, and you shall kill the animal. ¹⁶If a woman approaches any animal and mates with it, you shall kill the woman and the animal. They shall surely be put to death. Their blood is upon them. ¹⁷If a man takes his sister, his father’s daughter or his mother’s daughter, and sees her nakedness and she sees his nakedness, it is a wicked thing. And they shall be cut off in the sight of their people. He has uncovered his sister’s nakedness. He shall bear his guilt. ¹⁸If a man lies with a woman during her sickness and uncovers her nakedness, he has exposed her flow, and she has uncovered the flow of her blood. Both of them shall be cut off from their people. ¹⁹You shall not uncover the nakedness of your mother’s sister nor of your father’s sister, for that would uncover his near of kin. They shall bear their guilt. ²⁰If a man lies with his uncle’s wife, he has uncovered his uncle’s nakedness. They shall bear their sin; they shall die childless. ²¹If a man takes his brother’s wife, it is an unclean thing. He has uncovered his brother’s nakedness. They shall be childless. ²²‘You shall therefore keep all My statutes and all My judgments, and perform them, that the land where I am bringing you to dwell may not vomit you out. ²³And you shall not walk in the statutes of the nation which I am casting out before you; for they commit all these things, and therefore I abhor them. ²⁴But I have said to you, “You shall inherit their land, and I will give it to you to possess, a land flowing with milk and honey.” I am the Lᴏʀᴅ your God, who has separated you from the peoples. ²⁵You shall therefore distinguish between clean animals and unclean, between unclean birds and clean, and you shall not make yourselves abominable by beast or by bird, or by any kind of living thing that creeps on the ground, which I have separated from you as unclean. ²⁶And you shall be holy to Me, for I the Lᴏʀᴅ am holy, and have separated you from the peoples, that you should be Mine. ²⁷‘A man or a woman who is a medium, or who has familiar spirits, shall surely be put to death; they shall stone them with stones. Their blood shall be upon them.’ ”

¹A Psalm of David. To You, O Lᴏʀᴅ, I lift up my soul. ²O my God, I trust in You; Let me not be ashamed; Let not my enemies triumph over me. ³Indeed, let no one who waits on You be ashamed; Let those be ashamed who deal treacherously without cause. ⁴Show me Your ways, O Lᴏʀᴅ; Teach me Your paths. ⁵Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; On You I wait all the day. ⁶Remember, O Lᴏʀᴅ, Your tender mercies and Your lovingkindnesses, For they are from of old. ⁷Do not remember the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions; According to Your mercy remember me, For Your goodness’ sake, O Lᴏʀᴅ. ⁸Good and upright is the Lᴏʀᴅ; Therefore He teaches sinners in the way. ⁹The humble He guides in justice, And the humble He teaches His way. ¹⁰All the paths of the Lᴏʀᴅ are mercy and truth, To such as keep His covenant and His testimonies. ¹¹For Your name’s sake, O Lᴏʀᴅ, Pardon my iniquity, for it is great. ¹²Who is the man that fears the Lᴏʀᴅ? Him shall He teach in the way He chooses. ¹³He himself shall dwell in prosperity, And his descendants shall inherit the earth. ¹⁴The secret of the Lᴏʀᴅ is with those who fear Him, And He will show them His covenant. ¹⁵My eyes are ever toward the Lᴏʀᴅ, For He shall pluck my feet out of the net. ¹⁶Turn Yourself to me, and have mercy on me, For I am desolate and afflicted. ¹⁷The troubles of my heart have enlarged; Bring me out of my distresses! ¹⁸Look on my affliction and my pain, And forgive all my sins. ¹⁹Consider my enemies, for they are many; And they hate me with cruel hatred. ²⁰Keep my soul, and deliver me; Let me not be ashamed, for I put my trust in You. ²¹Let integrity and uprightness preserve me, For I wait for You. ²²Redeem Israel, O God, Out of all their troubles!

¹To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven: ²A time to be born, And a time to die; A time to plant, And a time to pluck what is planted; ³A time to kill, And a time to heal; A time to break down, And a time to build up; ⁴A time to weep, And a time to laugh; A time to mourn, And a time to dance; ⁵A time to cast away stones, And a time to gather stones; A time to embrace, And a time to refrain from embracing; ⁶A time to gain, And a time to lose; A time to keep, And a time to throw away; ⁷A time to tear, And a time to sew; A time to keep silence, And a time to speak; ⁸A time to love, And a time to hate; A time of war, And a time of peace. ⁹What profit has the worker from that in which he labors? ¹⁰I have seen the God-given task with which the sons of men are to be occupied. ¹¹He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end. ¹²I know that nothing is better for them than to rejoice, and to do good in their lives, ¹³and also that every man should eat and drink and enjoy the good of all his labor—it is the gift of God. ¹⁴I know that whatever God does, It shall be forever. Nothing can be added to it, And nothing taken from it. God does it, that men should fear before Him. ¹⁵That which is has already been, And what is to be has already been; And God requires an account of what is past. ¹⁶Moreover I saw under the sun: In the place of judgment, Wickedness was there; And in the place of righteousness, Iniquity was there. ¹⁷I said in my heart, “God shall judge the righteous and the wicked, For there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.” ¹⁸I said in my heart, “Concerning the condition of the sons of men, God tests them, that they may see that they themselves are like animals.” ¹⁹For what happens to the sons of men also happens to animals; one thing befalls them: as one dies, so dies the other. Surely, they all have one breath; man has no advantage over animals, for all is vanity. ²⁰All go to one place: all are from the dust, and all return to dust. ²¹Who knows the spirit of the sons of men, which goes upward, and the spirit of the animal, which goes down to the earth? ²²So I perceived that nothing is better than that a man should rejoice in his own works, for that is his heritage. For who can bring him to see what will happen after him?

¹Do not rebuke an older man, but exhort him as a father, younger men as brothers, ²older women as mothers, younger as sisters, with all purity. ³Honor widows who are really widows. ⁴But if any widow has children or grandchildren, let them first learn to show piety at home and to repay their parents; for this is good and acceptable before God. ⁵Now she who is really a widow, and left alone, trusts in God and continues in supplications and prayers night and day. ⁶But she who lives in pleasure is dead while she lives. ⁷And these things command, that they may be blameless. ⁸But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever. ⁹Do not let a widow under sixty years old be taken into the number, and not unless she has been the wife of one man, ¹⁰well reported for good works: if she has brought up children, if she has lodged strangers, if she has washed the saints’ feet, if she has relieved the afflicted, if she has diligently followed every good work. ¹¹But refuse the younger widows; for when they have begun to grow wanton against Christ, they desire to marry, ¹²having condemnation because they have cast off their first faith. ¹³And besides they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house, and not only idle but also gossips and busybodies, saying things which they ought not. ¹⁴Therefore I desire that the younger widows marry, bear children, manage the house, give no opportunity to the adversary to speak reproachfully. ¹⁵For some have already turned aside after Satan. ¹⁶If any believing man or woman has widows, let them relieve them, and do not let the church be burdened, that it may relieve those who are really widows. ¹⁷Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and doctrine. ¹⁸For the Scripture says, “You shall not muzzle an ox while it treads out the grain,” and, “The laborer is worthy of his wages.” ¹⁹Do not receive an accusation against an elder except from two or three witnesses. ²⁰Those who are sinning rebuke in the presence of all, that the rest also may fear. ²¹I charge you before God and the Lord Jesus Christ and the elect angels that you observe these things without prejudice, doing nothing with partiality. ²²Do not lay hands on anyone hastily, nor share in other people’s sins; keep yourself pure. ²³No longer drink only water, but use a little wine for your stomach’s sake and your frequent infirmities. ²⁴Some men’s sins are clearly evident, preceding them to judgment, but those of some men follow later. ²⁵Likewise, the good works of some are clearly evident, and those that are otherwise cannot be hidden.
